This year’s event will focus on our inherently human connection to the arts, exploring how technology is changing that relationship through immersive and embodied storytelling, artificial intelligence, radically inclusive fashion, and more. Creativity is deeply rooted in the human experience. Today’s emerging technologies are disrupting the ways we use our creative minds and dissolving the divide between human and technology, raising the question “Why Human?”
Hollywood has imagined a future dominated by robots. Meanwhile, scientists have hypothesized technological singularity. At Hacking Arts, we want to start a different conversation. We want to bring together creative technologists, artists, and entrepreneurs to explore our connection to the arts, creativity, and ultimately our own humanity.
What makes work created by humans unique? Could artificial intelligence surpass human imagination? How are emerging technologies altering our creative practices? How can these tools augment human ability as the divide between human and technology becomes more blurred? Why does it matter to be human?
The Hacking Arts 2017 hackathon is your opportunity to bring your idea about advancing the arts alive. Applications for the hackathon are now open and we can't wait to hear from you.
