GRAND PRIZE: INSIDE ART

Using the IMVU online metaverse, Inside Art created virtual realities of famous works of art including American Gothic and the Birth of Venus. Using a VR headset, art lovers can explore these famous scenes up close and personal. You can check out the presentation the Inside Art shared at the hackathon below. Inside Art consisted of Bruno Olmedo, Kathy Wu, Willy Wu, and Marcelo Decastro.

 

SECOND PLACE: DJ GURU

Team DJ Guru, made up of Arpit Gupta, Gulay Ozkan and David Henry also, also won the CODEMKRS Acceleration Award prize.

 

THIRD PLACE: TEAM LOCKAR & TEAM MUSIC TOUCH

Team LockAR was a solo effort of Uttam Grandhi. Team Music Touch consisted of David Wang and George Sun.

SONOS ULTIMATE USER EXPERIENCE HACK PRIZE: TEAM MY SONOS HACK

Sonos charged Hacking Arts participants to re-envision the user experience of enjoying music in the home and this extraordinary team delivered. Team My Sonos Hack was made up of Nick Del Vecchio, Adam Mitchell, Jacob Connery, Sophia Yang, Kevin Shaabi, Jose Belloso and Linda Cheung.

 

MOST CREATIVE USE OF ARTSY API PRIZE: BAE, "BETTER ART UNDERSTANDING"

Two MIT undergraduates took home the prize with their project, BAE "Better Art Understanding." BAE stands for Better Art Understanding and their tongue-in-cheek hack allows for anyone to sound knowledgeable about art criticism; using the Artsy API these two Course 6 (EECS) students were able to scan works of art and automatically generate commentary that would allow you to keep up with even the most devoted art history buffs.
